Vectra 3D Whole Body Photo-Imaging and Confocal Microscopes
Miami Cancer Institute is home to the most advanced skin cancer
screening solution on the market –– the Vectra 3D Whole-Body
Photo Imaging. The Institute is the only facility in South Florida,
and one of a few in the U.S., to offer this technology.
Traditional skin assessment consists of photographing and
cataloging small, separate images of individual lesions, a time-consuming
process that can make the patient uncomfortable and
anxious. The Vectra imaging system revolutionizes this practice,
creating a full-body 3D image in less than a minute.
The process is quick and pleasant. The patient simply stands on
a mat between two modules containing 92 precisely positioned
cameras and specialized lighting. With the click of a button, the
Vectra system captures 92 images and stitches them together to
generate a high-resolution, 3D rendering of the patient’s entire
body, front and back.
Once the model is generated and stored in the computer,
advanced software enables the clinician to pinpoint and evaluate
any suspicious lesions. Plus, the system also allows new images
to be compared to previous images, further assisting physicians in
deciding whether or not a biopsy is necessary.
