Services and Quality Initiatives
Miami Children’s Museum
Miami Children’s Museum and its exceptional cast of actors and
storytellers treated pediatric families to a live performance of
“Battle of the Things,” based on Dr. Seuss characters.
Magic Show With Miggy and Friends
The Institute partnered with Miggy’s Gift, a nonprofit organization
committed to raising melanoma awareness, and professional
magician Danny H for a mesmerizing afternoon.
Kids Yoga Flow
Kids Yoga Flow introduced pediatric patients and their siblings to
an energizing, creative and fast-moving yoga session that focused
on coordination, balance and flexibility while encouraging curiosity,
imagination and play.
Pediatric patients are now able to celebrate by ringing the
pediatric gong when they complete their cancer treatment.
The pediatric life specialist helps coordinate this celebration for
patients and their families.
Island Dolphin Care
For the second year, 12 patients and siblings, accompanied by a
child life specialist and Infusionarium nurses, headed to Key Largo
to visit Island Dolphin Care. Participants dove into therapeutic
activities, including swimming with the dolphins, an art project
and learning about marine life through a touch tank. A tasty BBQ
lunch was provided courtesy of Island Dolphin Care.
Junior Chef: Ready, Set, Chop!
Quarterly cooking classes led by Miami Cancer Institute’s
Executive Chef Edgardo Llopiz-Rivera were a big hit with pediatric
patients and their siblings.
Some of Miami’s most talented singers, dancers, poets,
storytellers and musicians entertained patients, siblings and
caregivers with a production of original compositions.
A Prom to Remember
Teenage patients and their guests attended “A Prom to
Remember” at the Ritz-Carlton Ft. Lauderdale for a magical
evening of dinner, dancing and socializing. They enjoyed a
limousine ride from Miami Cancer Institute and a red carpet
welcome from beauty queens and local sports stars.
